Banderas Bay Project

Sometimes natural disasters provide excellent opportunities.

In October 2020, Hurricane Nora strongly impacted Puerto Vallarta. Among the damages caused, our favorite Boca de Tomatlán–Las Animas trail had damage to the trail, railings and many fallen trees that blocked the path.

Our team of volunteers decided to take immediate action and raise funds to repair the trail and we created the Boca-Las Animas Restotation Project. We raised 25,000 Mexican pesos and on December 13, 14 and 15 we began the first cleaning and restoration of the trail.

Unfortunately, 15 days after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Colomitos beach was full of trash and damage. This motivated us to improve our strategy and create a schedule for cleaning and monitoring the trail every second Sunday of each month.

Banderas Bay Project was born!

Since then, perseverance, good attitude and love for our trail have allowed us to create a network of volunteers who accompany us every month and enjoy the exercise, philanthropism and beauty that this very popular route offers.
